COURSE DESCRIPTION


Core deliver this course in conjunction with secondary schools across Queensland as part of the Vet IN Schools (VETis) program.

Certificate II in Horticulture aims to develop the  practical skills and knowledge of students so that they can undertake a large and broad range of tasks in gardening, nursery work and landscaping skills and knowledge required by many sectors in the horticultural industry such as maintaining plants, treating weeds, pests and plant disease and basic landscaping tasks.

The course can also be delivered to individuals looking for an entry level qualification into the Horticulture  industry for who are no longer attending school.

Students will complete a range of theoretical and practical tasks and projects throughout their training

Over 77% of students who complete this course are employed or go onto further study.

VET in Schools (VETis)

Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) is delivery of nationally recognised qualifications to school students, providing them with the skills and knowledge required for employment in specific industries. VETiS qualifications can be undertaken in years 10, 11 and 12, and can count towards the Queensland Certificate of Education.

Students are eligible to complete one qualification under the program.

Funding Options

Any student who undertakes this course under VETis is fee free.

The co-contribution fee is $50.00 for non-school based students.

Delivery

Whilst some training is conducted in the classroom, students will develop practical skills and knowledge through projects and landscape work in a variety of settings as well as self directed learning at home.

Students learn in smaller classroom sizes and activities are designed so that students can take what they have learnt and apply to it a workplace straight away.

Core have access to large nurseries that give the students to opportunity to “get their hands” dirty,

On completion, you will be eligible to receive the qualification AHC20416 Certificate II in Horticulture.
