AHC31016 Certificate III in Parks and Garden


The AHC31016 Certificate III in Parks and Gardens is a nationally recognised qualification covering the skills and knowledge relating to the parks and gardens industry.

This may include infrastructure installation, maintenance or renovation of a public space, landscape maintenance, green space establishment and recreational developments for public or private gardens.

Core offers all students the opportunity to obtain recognition of their existing skills and knowledge gained through their relevant job experience. This means you only train in areas that you are not currently familiar with and can reduce the duration of your course significantly.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however it is recommended you have basic knowledge of horticultural principles.

Over 95% of students who complete this course are employed or go onto further study.

Training Location and Course Delivery

Training may be conducted either online (via virtual classrooms) or self paced online study. This can be supported by face to face training to undertake the practical components of the course with your trainer. Face to Face classrooms may resume at an appropriate time.

The program should take students approximately 6 – 12 months of study but can be longer or shorter depending on individual student needs and amount of gap assessment required.

Who Should Do this Course?

This course is open entry however, students enrolling into this course will be required to undertake a Literacy & Numeracy Indicator prior to commencement of the course. This allows our trainers to identify any strengths and where additional support may be required. Students will also be required to have access to a computer and an internet connection to undertake their study and assessment.

Funding Options

FUNDED – Certificate 3 Guarantee

Please ring us to see if you are eligible for funding under the Department of Education, Small Business and Training – Certificate 3 Guarantee.

If you are eligible for the funding, your co-contribution fees are as follows;

  • Concession        $20 (this is $1.12 per unit)
  • Non Concession $50 (this is $3.12 per unit)
  • School Leaver 2019 Fee free

The eligibility criteria for this funding requires that you:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • be 15 years old or over
  • permanently reside in Queensland and have left school
  • not already have a certificate III level or higher qualification
  • not be currently enrolled in a certificate III level or higher course

Please be aware once you have completed this course via a government funded training place, you will no longer be eligible to access another funded place under this funding program (Certificate 3 Guarantee) at Certificate III level or higher.

You will also be required to completed a mandatory survey at the completion of your training.  Please see the link to the fact sheet about funding.
